Cross-country skiing right outside Waldrand Apartments
Waldrand Apartments stand in the Vorberg district on the south-western edge of the Ramsau plateau. In winter the groomer sets the trail on the meadow in front of the house; the nearest point of the trail is about 30 m from the entrance. You put your skis on at the door – no car, no hunting for a parking space.
The section by the house belongs to several loops of the Ramsau network: the Kulmloipe, the Dachstein Runde, the Kulmberg Waldloipe and the Dachstein Classic. Which trails are groomed on a given day is shown on the official trail report.

How do you get to the trail?
On foot: the trail by the house is less than a minute away. The Vorbergloipe is 580 m or about 8 min on foot.
By car: the centre of Ramsau is about 5.1 km away (approx. 10 min). Parking at Alte Mühle, the Dachstein Event Zentrum and Gasthof Stocker is included in the trail pass. The Stockerwirt inn is 1.6 km from the house and has a ticket machine.
By bus: the nearest stop, Ramsau Vorberg Wegkreuz, is 760 m from the house.
Classic or skating
Ramsau offers both: more than 100 km of classic and more than 70 km of skating trails across 20 trails in good snow.
The section by the house is laid out for both classic and skating. The current trail report shows whether both tracks are prepared. The Vorbergloipe is a classic trail.
Trails for beginners
If you are new to cross-country skiing, start with short loops and a lesson at one of the ski schools.

Trails for keen skiers
For long sessions, two major loops use the section right by the house.
- Dachstein Classic (32 km): the longest loop on the official trail list.
- Dachstein Runde (29 km): also uses the section by the house.
- Kulmberg Waldloipe (14 km) and Kulmloipe (13 km): medium-length loops from the house.
- World Cup trail (2.5 km) at the Ramsau cross-country stadium.
- Roller track and biathlon stadium (5.7 km), with guest biathlon at two ski schools.
High-altitude trails on the Dachstein Glacier and the Rittisberg
On the Dachstein Glacier the trails lie at 2,570 to 2,700 m: the “Ramsauer Loipe” (5 km) and the “Hallstätter Loipe” (10 km), up to 15 km in total. The Dachstein Glacier cable car valley station is 11 km from the house (approx. 18 min by car).
In winter 2026/27 the glacier cable car runs daily from 25 December 2026 to 11 January 2027; from 12 January to 29 March 2027 it is closed on Tuesdays. From May to November you can ski on the glacier in summer, too.
Closer to home is the Rittisberg 1500 high-altitude trail: a 5.2 km loop at 1,500 to 1,600 m, reached by the Rittisberg lift.
Night trail
At the Ramsau cross-country stadium a 2.8 km night trail is floodlit every day after dark until 7 pm. On some evenings the ski-jump stadium is lit as well. The weekdays are listed in the trail report.

Trail pass
Cross-country skiing in Ramsau is not free: a trail fee applies across the whole area, as a day, multi-day or season pass. Children under 15 ski free.
Prices for the 2026/27 season have not yet been published. Passes are sold at ticket machines (including at the stadium and the Stockerwirt), at the Ramsau tourist office, the Dachstein Bad, Sport Steiner, the Nordic Center, the Alpincenter and in the RVB online shop. The Ramsau WinterCard gives a discount on the trail pass.
Parking and storage in the house
Every apartment has a garage space included; there is bike storage for 9 of the 12 apartments. After skiing, the Finnish sauna, relaxation room and fitness room in the house are a few steps away.

The Schladming-Dachstein tourist board shows which trails are groomed today. In the 2025/26 season the trails were open daily from 7 am to 5 pm.
