Cross-country skiing from the front door
The trail is groomed on the meadow in front of the house, and the nearest point is about 30 m from the entrance. Ramsau am Dachstein has more than 100 km of classic and more than 70 km of skating trails in good snow.

Skiing on the Rittisberg
The Rittisberg is Ramsau’s family ski area. The Rittisberg lift is a combined lift with six-seater chairs and ten-seater gondolas. There are 9 km of pistes with snowmaking and 20 km with partial snowmaking, blue, red and black runs, and the Märchenabfahrt (fairy-tale run).
Children have their own lifts and practice areas: Zauberlift, Bergkristalllift, the Drachenlifte and Kaliland. There is also a Zipflbob run with hire at the Drachenlift.
Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm and Ski amadé
The four-mountain ski circuit of Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm lies below the Ramsau plateau. From the house it is 8.6 km to Reiteralm (Silver Jet, Pichl), 9 km to the Planai valley station in Schladming and 12.2 km to the Hochwurzen valley station in Rohrmoos.
The region is part of Ski amadé, which has 760 km of pistes and 270 lifts in 25 ski regions. Multi-day passes are valid on all Ski amadé lifts; the one-day pass covers the Schladming-Dachstein region. With a valid ski pass the RVB ski bus is free.
The Dachstein Glacier in winter
The Dachstein Glacier cable car valley station is 11 km from the house. On the glacier, at around 2,700 m, winter means ski touring, freeriding and cross-country skiing.
The Ice Palace, the suspension bridge and the Stairway to Nothingness open for winter 2026/27 on 25 December 2026; from 12 January 2027 they are closed on Tuesdays.
Winter walking and snowshoeing
The Schladming-Dachstein region lists around 300 km of prepared winter walking paths.
- On the Rittisberg a winter path leads via Sonnenalm, Halseralm and Rösteralm to the Rittisberghütte.
- The Rittisberg summit cross (1,682 m) is about 20 minutes from the top station of the Rittisberg lift.
- The tourist board’s route portal describes, among others, the Ramsau Ort snowshoe route (3.6 km).
Tobogganing
There are 11 toboggan runs in the region; two are close to the house.
- Night tobogganing on the Rittisberg: take the Rittisberg lift with your sledge to 1,500 m, then ride 3.5 km down to the valley. Toboggan days are Tuesday and Friday; sledges can be hired for a fee.
- Hochwurzen: a 7 km toboggan run with a 730 m descent, floodlit on selected evenings.

Ramsau WinterCard instead of the summer card
The Schladming-Dachstein Card is valid in summer only. In winter, Ramsau has the separate Ramsau WinterCard from RVB: reduced bus fares, a cheaper trail pass, discounts at the Dachstein Bad and savings at museums, hire shops and sports shops (2025/26 season).
